Quality is King – 3 Ways to Improve Translation Quality

One of the key findings of the “Translation Technology Insights Research 2016” conducted by SDL Trados (2.784 respondents from 115 countries) was the overriding importance of translation quality.

Quality is 2.5x more important than speed – and 6x more important than cost. Even for cost-conscious
corporates and language service providers (LSPs), quality is 4x more important than cost.

According to the Survey, there are 3 Ways to Improve Translation Quality:

  1. Prioritize terminology management
  2. Familiarize yourself with existing standards
  3. Embrace an objective approach to measuring quality

Lack of Resources is the number one challenge of terminology management in organizations, …

followed by lack of awareness for the importance of terminology management and the weak position of terminology professionals:

60% have not enough time due to heavy workloads, 43% have not enough human resources and need to cope with terminology management (almost) alone, even in large enterprises. 60% of our colleagues who took the survey struggle with lack of awareness for the importance of terminology management and their weak position in their organization.
